How to Delete Instagram
To delete your Instagram, navigate to the Delete Your Account page from a web browser (you can't do it in the app!). Log in, select a reason for deletion, re-enter your password, and hit Permanently delete my account. Boom, you’re free!

Deactivating is for quitters. Permanently deleting requires you to log in on a web browser and visit the Delete Your Account page. Pick a reason, re-enter your password, and confirm. Done and done.
