Yep, Apex Legends actually runs on a modified version of the Source Engine. It's the same engine Valve used for games like Half-Life and Portal, but Respawn tweaked it to handle their fast-paced battle royale. So when you're sliding down hills or zipping around, you've got Source to thank for the smooth moves.

Short answer: Yes, it's on the Source Engine. But think of it as Source Engine on a workout plan and some serious tech upgrades. Respawn did a lot of custom work to make Apex feel as good as it does.

Honestly, it's Source, but not as you know it. Respawn Entertainment really pushed the limits of what Source can do for Apex Legends. It's like they took an old car and put in a new engine, better suspension... the works.

If you're a Apex Legends player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

That includes gift cards from all of your favorite gaming platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and more... which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
