Is copying a spell considered casting it in MTG?

Nope, copying a spell in MTG isn't the same as casting it. When you copy a spell, it’s like getting an echo of the spell—it's already on the stack and doesn't require you to pay its mana cost or anything. So, triggers that happen when you cast a spell won't happen with just a copy.

Gotta chime in with a simple 'No'. Copying =/= casting.

Here's the deal, copied spells are awesome 'cause they feel like freebies—but they don't count as casting. Found this out the hard way in a game where my 'cast a spell' trigger sat there doing nothing while I copied away like a wizard on autopilot.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
