Both consoles offer a fantastic Elden Ring experience, but PS5 has slightly faster load times thanks to its SSD. Graphics and performance are largely similar, so you can't go wrong with either!
Honestly, it's about the controller preference and your friend's network. Pick your favorite ecosystem and go with it.
I play on both and barely notice any difference. Just go with whichever console you already own!
