Mostly hitscan, but some weapons definitely use projectiles. Gotta aim differently depending on the gun!
Fortnite uses a mix of both hitscan and projectile weapons. Hitscan weapons, like most assault rifles and SMGs, register the hit instantly, while projectile weapons, like sniper rifles and grenades, have travel time and bullet drop.
Fortnite's got both hitscan and projectile mechanics. It really just depends on the weapon you're using!
