I've tried both. Fortnite allows split screen for two players, but only on specific consoles (PS4/PS5, Xbox One/X/S). It's not quite like LEGO games since it's more competitive.

Nope, Fortnite split screen is not like LEGO. Fortnite split screen allows two players to play on the same console, but it doesn't have the same split-screen co-op style as LEGO games.

Fortnite does offer split screen, but unlike LEGO games, both players can't go off and do their own thing. It's more restricted.
