As far as the series has shown, Gamabunta is indeed alive, but he doesn't make many significant appearances.

Yup, Gamabunta is still kicking it in Boruto, but he mostly stays in the background enjoying his retirement.

From what I've seen, Gamabunta is alive but isn't a major character in Boruto. Guess he's letting the new generation shine!
