As someone who plays both, I'd say Injustice and Mortal Kombat are similar in their fighting mechanics and controls. The main difference is the characters and their special moves.
Injustice uses the same game engine as Mortal Kombat, so the combat style feels very similar. Think of it as Mortal Kombat but with capes and less gruesome fatalities.
Just my two cents: If you love Mortal Kombat, you'll probably dig Injustice too. It's basically MK with DC Comics characters. Easy win!
