Joker is definitely something of a grey character - he helps sometimes but also causes trouble.

I don't think Joker is evil. He's got his own complex motivations and isn't necessarily on anyone's side.

Joker's more of an anti-hero than outright evil. He has his own mysterious agenda and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, but sometimes he helps the good guys too!
