Actually, I'd argue that while Movie Z isn't 'canon' in the strictest sense, it's still a must-watch for fans. The creator, Oda, was involved in the film as an executive producer. This means he had a hand in its creation, which gives it a certain degree of authenticity. Plus, it's just a really fun movie with a compelling story.

Nah, One Piece Movie Z isn't part of the official canon. The movies usually exist in a sort of side universe to the main story. They're like delicious extra toppings on a pizza! The main storyline in the manga and the bits adapted into the anime series by Oda are what you'd call 'canon'. But don't let that stop you, Movie Z is a blast and adds a lot of flavor to the One Piece universe. Definitely worth the watch for any fan!
