Orochimaru is kind of a mixed bag in Boruto. Not exactly a hero, but not the same evil mastermind from Naruto either.
Hot take: Orochimaru is just chaotic neutral in Boruto. Dude's got his own agenda, but evil? Not really.
Having watched the entire series, I'd say Orochimaru is more of an anti-hero now. He helps out sometimes, but you can never fully trust him.
