In the world of MTG, sacrificing a creature and it dying are similar but not the same! When you sacrifice a creature, you're choosing to send it from the battlefield to the graveyard, usually as a cost for an ability or the effect of another card. This is different from a creature dying, which happens when its toughness is reduced to 0 or it's destroyed by a spell or ability. The key difference? Some cards specifically trigger when a creature dies but won't trigger on a sacrifice, and vice versa.

Nope, not the same! If your spell says 'When a creature dies' it won't trigger if you just sacrificed it for funsies.

Gotta say, as someone who's sacrificed more creatures than I can count in MTG, sacrificing is a strategy, not just an alternative word for dying. It's all about what triggers those abilities on your cards. Use it wisely!

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
