As someone who has watched both the anime and read the manga, I can confirm that Season 2 deviates significantly from the manga. Still, it's entertaining in its own right!

Kind of a mixed bag โ€“ Season 2, aka 'Tokyo Ghoul โˆšA,' is partly canon. It diverges from the manga big time, but Sui Ishida, the original creator, was involved in writing the story.
