Nah, Splatoon 2 isn't just a simple two-player game. It's more about online team battles with lots of players, but you can still have fun locally.

Splatoon 2 is primarily a multiplayer game, but you can enjoy it both online and locally with friends. For local co-op, the game supports a mode called Salmon Run where you and your mate can team up and fend off wave after wave of Salmonid critters. Or you could get a bit competitive and use the LAN Play feature to battle against another team of Inklings in Turf War.

I鈥檝e played Splatoon 2 with a friend locally using the LAN Play option. It lets us both join the inky action and battle it out on the couch. Pretty sweet!

You can enjoy Splatoon 2 in a party or solo by diving into various game modes. Salmon Run allows two or more players to team up against a horde, while other modes are mostly online multiplayer. So, grab a buddy and get inking!
