Super Mario Galaxy does have a co-op mode! The second player can join as a 'Co-Star' to collect Star Bits and help out with some actions.

Not really, it's more like an assist mode. Player 2 just collects Star Bits and stuns enemies. But hey, teamwork makes the dream work!

Yup! It's pretty fun too. Player 2 gets to point and click to assist Mario. Not a full second player, but still cool.
