Only the original fat PS3 models had backward compatibility for PS2 games. The 120GB slim version doesn't have it.

Unfortunately, the 120GB PS3 Slim is not backwards compatible with PS2 games. You can still play most PS1 games, though!

I owned a 120GB PS3 and can confirm it can play PS1 games, but no dice on PS2 games. Bummer, I know!

Forget it. If you want backward compatibility, look for an original 60GB or 20GB PS3.
