Not really, there are definitely stronger characters in other series. He's just the protagonist with some cool skills.
Oh, you bet Kirito is OP! The guy's got dual-wielding skills, plot armor thicker than a dragon's hide, and can solo boss monsters that make even the fiercest raiders tremble.
Some say Kirito's OP-ness (yes, I said it) gets a bit ridiculous, but hey, isn't that why we love him?
