Yes and no. While the setting and some characters are based on real Viking history, don't expect a documentary. It's historical fiction at its finest!

Having binged the entire series, I can say it's a mix of truth and epic storytelling. They took real Viking history and added a heavy dose of drama and action. Still awesome though!
