I've played both, and I gotta say, starting with XCOM 2 first made the WotC experience so much richer. The story makes more sense, and you get to enjoy the game as it was initially designed.

Honestly, you can jump straight into War of the Chosen. It integrates seamlessly with the base game and even improves upon the original mechanics, so you're not missing much by skipping directly to it.

Definitely play XCOM 2 before War of the Chosen. WotC is an expansion that builds on the base game and adds tons of new content. You'll appreciate the additions and improvements way more after experiencing the original campaign first!

Skip the base game, go directly to War of the Chosen. It's like XCOM 2 but on steroids!
