Nope, One Piece was never planned to end after Alabasta. The creator, Eiichiro Oda, did mention early on that he thought the series would last for five years, but Alabasta arc was just a part of the grand adventure. Considering we're over two decades in, it's clear the journey expanded way beyond the initial expectations!

One Piece ending after Alabasta? No way! Eiichiro Oda, the genius behind the series, had a much larger vision. Sure, he thought it might last 5 years, but that was before the story took on a life of its own. Alabasta was just the beginning of a much bigger saga!
