A steam roller is basically a vintage road roller powered by steam. Back in the day, they were the heavy machinery go-tos for flattening roads and laying foundations. Think of them as the great-grandparents of today's road construction vehicles, but powered by steam instead of diesel or gas. Not to be confused with that digital powerhouse Steam, which rolls out games instead of asphalt!
