Yoshi can struggle against characters with strong shields and projectiles. Try using Samus or Dark Samus to keep him away.
Use characters with good range and disjointed hitboxes, like Marth or Lucina. Their swords can keep Yoshi at a distance!
From my experience, Pikachu can be a good counter. Quick attacks and agility make it tough for Yoshi to keep up!
