Before the first Pokemon Card Game released, there was the Pokemon video game series that kick-started the entire Pokemon franchise. The first games, Pokemon Red and Green (Blue for international markets), launched for the Game Boy in 1996. These games introduced the world to the Pokemon universe, setting the stage for the introduction of the trading card game in 1996 in Japan and 1998 internationally. So, basically, the TCG rode on the coattails of the video game's success!

Actually, it was the anime that came before the TCG and made it big. Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu made everyone wanna be a Pokemon trainer, and the card game just gave us another way to live out that dream. So, gotta catch 'em all started with the games, but the anime really set the stage for the TCG craze.

The manga, actually! Pokemon Adventures, it's pretty cool and predates the TCG. It's a bit of a different flavor from the video games and anime, but definitely a part of the Pokemon world!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
