The anime skips quite a few chapters! For example, the first season skips Chapters 46-50 and rushes through a lot of material. If you love the details, definitely check out the manga!

Season 3 (Tokyo Ghoul:re) skips over some chapters too, especially from the beginning. They skip right from Chapter 1 to Chapter 58. Major plot points got left out!
