Brotherhood follows the manga more closely, so if you’re into the original story, maybe start with that one. But yeah, 2003 anime was first.

Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) came first and then Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009) came later. Start with the original if you want to see how the story was first adapted!

Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) is the OG, but Brotherhood (2009) is widely considered the superior version. Either way, you’re in for a treat!
