What counts as casting a spell in Magic The Gathering?
In Magic The Gathering, you're casting a spell whenever you're playing a card from your hand and paying its mana cost, except when you're putting a land into play. This includes casting creatures, enchantments, sorceries, instants, and artifacts. Remember, using an ability isn't the same as casting a spell, so activating an ability of a creature or any card on the battlefield doesn't count.

Just to keep it simple: casting a spell in MTG means playing anything that's not a land. Pay that mana cost and bam, you're a wizard!
Nah, folks sometimes overthink this. If you slap a card on the table and use mana to do it, congrats, you've cast a spell. Exception? Dropping a land, doesn't count.
