They're pretty much Steam's version of crafting glitter. Turn your unused clutter into gems and then use those to craft booster packs or snag goodies in special auctions. A neat way to make use of all those game drops you don't care about.

Gems? Barely worth the hassle unless you're super into crafting or trading on Steam. You're better off selling your items on the market.

Gems on Steam are basically digital crafting materials you can use to create booster packs for trading cards or bid on items during Steam's Holiday Auctions. You can get gems by converting items in your inventory you don't need, like trading cards, backgrounds, or emoticons. It's like recycling your unwanted stuff for something you might actually want!

Used gems for the first time during a Steam sale auction. It's a cool way to get more out of your Steam inventory. Converted some of my old emoticons and backgrounds into gems and snagged a couple of booster packs. Definitely adds a fun twist to managing your collection.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
