Just dig, fight, explore, build! There's no real wrong way to play Terraria. You wanna build a giant castle out of Cactus? Go for it. Feel like taking on the Eye of Cthulhu with nothing but a wooden sword? Bold move, but you do you. The world's your oyster.

Honestly, just trying to survive the first night is a good start. Terraria can be brutal. After that, set small goals like "Today, I'll find enough iron to craft an anvil" or "I'm going to make a house for the Guide so he stops following me around." Progress at your own pace!
Chop wood. Fight slimes. Cry when you accidentally summon a boss with no preparation. 10/10 would recommend.
In Terraria, your imagination is pretty much the limit! Start by chopping down trees, mining for ores, and building a shelter to survive the night against various monsters.
