Honestly, leveling up just means more gear to catch 'em all. Potions, Revives, Balls - you name it.
Levels in Pokemon GO unlock better items and perks. You start with simple stuff like Poke Balls, but you get more powerful items like Max Potions and Ultra Balls as you level up.
When you reach higher levels, you also unlock the ability to catch higher CP (Combat Power) Pokémon and get access to special items like TMs (Technical Machines) to teach your Pokémon new moves.
