What does First Strike do in MTG?
First Strike means your creature hits first in a fight. If it's strong enough, it can take out the other creature before it even gets a chance to retaliate. Simple as that.

First Strike is a great way to take down bigger creatures without losing your own. It鈥檚 like having a secret weapon in your deck.
First Strike in Magic The Gathering lets a creature deal its combat damage before creatures without First Strike or Double Strike during the combat damage step. So, if your creature with First Strike is in a tussle with a creature without it, your creature gets to throw the first punch, potentially knocking out the other critter before it can hit back!
