Restoring default settings on a PS4 basically resets all the console settings back to out-of-the-box state without deleting your content. It's like a fresh start for your settings!
All your preference settings and customizations will go bye-bye, but it won't touch your saved games or screenshots. Just make sure you remember the original configurations!
It means your PS4 will revert to the original settings it had when you first took it out of the box. No game data gets deleted though.
