Akira Toriyama chose 'Z' because he felt that the series had reached its peak and the end was near. Apparently, 'Z' is also the last letter of the alphabet, symbolizing the end.

Believe it or not, the 'Z' was chosen simply because it sounded cool and added a sense of finality. Sometimes it's just that simple!

The 'Z' in 'Dragon Ball Z' stands for 'Zenkai', which roughly translates to 'last time' or 'complete'. It's meant to signify that this is the final and ultimate series in the Dragon Ball saga.

Fun fact: back in the day, I read that Toriyama picked 'Z' because it would be the last chapter of Goku's story... didn't turn out that way, huh?
