What elements on the periodic table are metals?

Metals are basically any element left of the stairstep line, except for hydrogen. From lithium to lead, if it shines, it's probably a metal.

Most of the elements on the periodic table are metals! They occupy the entire left and middle parts of the table. This includes the alkali metals (like sodium and potassium), alkaline earth metals (like calcium and magnesium), transition metals (like iron and gold), and even the lanthanides and actinides at the bottom.

Not all that sparkles is gold... but on the periodic table, it probably IS a metal.
