Episodes 16-17, 33-34, and 42-47 don't really add much to the main story. You won't miss important plot points if you skip these.

Honestly, the anime-original episodes between arcs are mostly filler. Episodes 16-18, 33-34, 42-47, and 51-52 are pretty skippable. Go straight to the juicy arcs!
