Just use an Xbox controller. It works perfectly and you don't have to mess around with settings. Steam practically rolls out the red carpet for it.

I've personally been using a PS5 controller for my Steam games and it's been smooth sailing. Feels good, and the games recognize it no problem. Plus, the haptic feedback on some games? Chef's kiss.

Pretty much most game controllers work with Steam, honestly. The platform is super flexible. Obviously, Steam's own Steam Controller is a given, but you're not just stuck with that. Xbox controllers (both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S) plug and play like a charm, and if you're more into PlayStation, PS4 and PS5 controllers are good to go too. Even Switch Pro controllers join the party without fuss. If you're into more niche controllers or have a favorite from a third-party manufacturer, chances are it'll work with Steam as well after some custom configuration in Big Picture Mode.

Switch Pro Controller. Trust me, it's underrated but works like a charm on Steam. Plus, you get to feel a bit unique in a sea of Xbox and PlayStation controllers.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
