Rivals mode got retired. It didn't have much engagement, so Zynga shifted their resources to other cool features and events.

They phased it out! Rivals mode just wasn't as popular as other features, so they decided to focus on improving the main gameplay.

I miss Rivals too! But don't worry, there are still plenty of other ways to challenge your friends and random players.
