When your Xbox Game Pass membership ends, the games you downloaded become unplayable. But don't worry, your save data is safe if you resubscribe or buy the game later.
From my experience, after my Game Pass expired, the games stayed installed but wouldn't start unless I renewed my subscription or bought them outright.
