From personal experience, I can confirm that PS Plus games go *poof* when the subscription ends. But they come back as soon as you re-subscribe!
Once your PS Plus subscription runs out, the games you snagged for free through the service will become locked. So make sure you renew to keep playing.
When your PlayStation Plus subscription expires, you lose access to the free games you downloaded. However, if you renew your subscription, you can regain access to those games!
