New studio, new look! Passione took over the animation from TNK and gave it a fresh makeover in Season 4.
The switch to Passione studio in Season 4 of High School DxD changed the animation style to align more closely with the original light novels. Personally, I think they did a great job!
Passione took over from TNK, and with that came a change in the animation style. Some fans love it, others... not so much.
It's okay; the new animation style is fine. Changes happen.
