If you can't put a Basic Pokemon card down at the start of the game, you gotta do what we call a 'mulligan.' Basically, you show your hand to your opponent, shuffle it back into your deck, and draw a new hand of 7 cards. Keep doing that until you snag a Basic Pokemon. Just remember, each mulligan lets your opponent draw an extra card, so hope you get lucky quick!

Can't start without a Basic. Mulligan's your only option. It's like fishing, sometimes you catch a boot, sometimes it's a shiny Magikarp. Keep casting!

Actually, not being able to put down a Basic Pokemon card presents a unique strategic opportunity. While it might seem like a setback due to the mulligan rule, it can also give you insight into your deck's shuffle and density of Basic Pokemon. Consider it a chance to reassess your deck's construction and improve it for future games.

Without a Basic Pokemon at the start, you're in mulligan city, my friend. Shuffle and draw again. No ifs, ands, or buts!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
