Honestly, you don't need much. I've played on a 5 Mbps connection and it's been fine. Just make sure your ping is good.
3 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up is the minimum, but that's just scraping by. If your internet's any slower, you might as well be sending smoke signals.
All about that ping life ?. Seriously though, speed is good and all, but if your ping is high, it's game over before it starts. Focus on reducing it!
