Hot take: The Midnight Dragon isn't worth that much. It's all hype. I'd rather go for a Neon Frost Fury.
In my experience, the Midnight Dragon usually trades for a couple of other legendary pets or highly valued items. It's a bit like trading a Neon Unicorn or a Bat Dragon.
From what I've seen, the Midnight Dragon can get you some older, rare pets like the Crow or the Owl, maybe even more if you're lucky.
