Just cosmetics and some bug fixes, IMO. Every now and then a new character or map to hype things up.
From first-hand experience, the updates can be game-changing! They added a new Legend recently that completely changed my squad's strategy. Plus, the map updates? Chef's kiss. Keeps the game super engaging.
