Hardcore fan here: Enemy Within definitely adds a lot more depth with the MELD mechanic and cybernetics. It's like Enemy Unknown on steroids.

Enemy Within is basically an upgraded version of Enemy Unknown. It adds new enemies, maps, units, and a storyline that makes the game even better!
