Retreat cost in Pokemon cards is the amount of energy you need to discard from your Pokemon in order to switch it with one of your bench Pokemon during a game. Think of it as the cost of running away from the current fight. If a card has a retreat cost of two, you gotta say bye to two energies attached to that Pokemon to make the switch!

Short answer: It's the toll fee your Pokemon gotta pay to skip out of battle. High retreat cost = more energy cards you're tossing to retreat. Choose wisely!

Actually, I kinda like Pokemon with a high retreat cost. Sure, it's a pain to gather all that energy, but it usually means they're the heavy hitters of my deck. High risk, high reward!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
