Honestly, just use whatever LMG you like. The right mods and talents make more difference than the base gun itself.
For me, the 'Pestilence' is unbeatable. The debuff from Plague of the Outcasts talent spreads like wildfire. It's a beast in PvE and PvP.
I've been a fan of the 'M249 Para' for its balance of handling and fire rate. Plus, it's easy to find early in the game.
