The very first episode of Gintama is titled 'You Guys!! Do You Even Have a Gintama?' and it aired on April 4, 2006. It's a hilarious introduction to the wacky world of Gintoki and his gang!

Technically, the very first episode is a special called 'You Guys!! Do You Even Have a Gintama', but if you want the first regular episode, it's 'You Sure Have Some Guts', which is actually the proper start to the story.
