Prophase takes the crown for the longest stage of mitosis. It's got a lot going on, from chromatin condensation to spindle formation!

Prophase is the longest stage. It's basically the setup before the real fun begins.

From my experience in cell biology, prophase is definitely the longest stage because it sets up everything for the rest of mitosis. It's like the prep work before a big show.
