What does the 'two' on some Pokémon cards mean?
MuggingCreek·7 months agoThe 'two' on some Pokémon cards actually represents the retreat cost. It means you need to discard two energy cards from that Pokémon to retreat it from battle. So, if you're mid-duel and you wanna switch out that Pokémon, it'll cost you two of those precious energy cards. Kind of like a strategic retreat tax!

It's the retreat cost! Gotta pay up energy cards to get your Pokémon out of the front lines. Two energy cards to be exact for those marked with a 'two'.
Just means if you wanna run away, it costs you two energy cards. Simple as that.
Nah, it's not that deep, it's just the retreat cost. But hey, part of the strategy, right?
