Not sure why everyone's into the specifics, but they're tiny. That's the size. Tiny.

Hot Wheels axles are typically around 1.5 mm in diameter. They're made to fit snugly into the wheels of those tiny cars, enabling them to roll smoothly across your floor, racing tracks, and improvised ramps made out of old books and rulers. Pro tip: if you're thinking of customizing or repairing your Hot Wheels, keep the axle size in mind for a perfect fit!

Having customized a few Hot Wheels in my time, I can confirm the axles are super thin, about 1.5 mm. It's important to get this right if you're drilling out old wheels to replace them. A bit too big or small, and you'll notice your Hot Wheels either won't move or will wobble off into the sunset.
